VoidLight Pictures' to attend TIFF 2025
The TIFF 50th Industry Conference is coming up September 5–9, and Toronto’s about to be buzzing with thousands of Canadian and international delegates. It’s not just about screenings - the Industry side of TIFF is packed with business development, deal-making, and a whole lot of networking. Basically, it’s where you get the inside track on what’s shaping today’s global screen world.

The conference is built around six main pillars: Visionaries, Dialogues, Perspectives, Microsessions, Spotlight, and this year’s new addition, Buyers in Focus - a series of panels featuring acquisition execs from around the world. On top of that, TIFF’s Media Partners are back with an even bigger lineup of Special Events (yes, live podcasts are on the menu again).
For Visionaries, I’m especially excited to hear from Donna Langley DBE, Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios - one of the most influential people in the industry today. Over in Dialogues, there’s a stacked panel with Diana Bustamante, Julia Lebedev, Yulia Evina Bhara, Alex C. Lo, and Daniel Bekerman on Indie Producers on a Shifting Landscape. Plus, “New Comedic Voices in Feature Film” with Maude Apatow & Raffi Donatich (Poetic License), Jonatan Etzler & Jess O’Kane (Bad Apples), and Chandler Levack (Mile End Kicks) is bound to be a fun one.
The Perspectives section looks especially strong this year too. I’ll definitely be tuning into Building Inclusive and Collaborative Productions and Indigenous Perspectives on Creative Sovereignty in Co-Productions - both conversations I think are essential to keep pushing forward in the industry.
And then there are the Microsessions, which are like rapid-fire deep dives into specific opportunities: co-producing with the UK, South Korea, Africa, and maximizing co-production potential here in Canada. For anyone looking to expand internationally, this is pure gold.
Of course, outside of the conference itself, there’s the festival lineup - and honestly, there are way too many films to list. But if I had to pick one I’m most hyped for, it’s Nat Boltt’s Holy Days. Even more exciting on a personal level: Nat is also one of the directors attached to our VoidLight Pictures project Dark Plague.
